About ACCA

ACCA is ideal if you’re looking to progress your career and become a chartered accountant, or work in an accountancy, audit or tax firm. ACCA consists of three levels; Applied Knowledge, Applied Skills, and Strategic Professional, and you’ll need to complete relevant work experience at some point before you can qualify. In total, it takes around five years to become ACCA qualified.

ACCA qualification is made up of three levels:

Applied Knowledge helps you understand the role of accounting in the business environment, and develop the practical skills and techniques expected of an accountant working in business. You can complete Applied Knowledge in six to 12 months.
Applied Skills encourages you to develop a broad understanding of the role of accounting in business, and how to interpret financial information. You can complete this level in 12 to 18 months.
By studying Strategic Professional, you’ll learn advanced techniques, skills, and the professional ethics required of an accountant or consultant operating at a senior level. Strategic Professional takes 12 to 18 months to complete, and once you’ve successfully passed you can apply to be a full member of ACCA.

Other ACCA courses

Foundations is a suite of awards from the ACCA that teaches you the fundamentals of accounting. It’s ideal if you’re new to accountancy, or already work in accountancy but don’t have any formal qualifications. There are no minimum entry requirements, but we recommend you start at the introductory level if it’s been a while since you last studied.

Combine your professional achievements with a Research and Analysis Project (RAP) to gain a Bachelor’s degree from a leading UK university.

This degree has been jointly designed by the University and ACCA to meet the requirements of a degree and also those of a professional qualification. As soon as you have completed the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams, and the Ethics and Professional skills module, you may submit a Research and Analysis Project to Oxford Brookes University, which will be assessed by the University Business School staff.
